When a Knee Cap Helps

How to Choose the Right Size

Knee caps are sized by limb circumference, not by your clothing size. Measure with a soft tape, then match the brand chart (S/M/L/XL).

Unsure? We measure and fit you in-store.

How to Wear It Correctly

  1. Roll the knee cap down, slip your foot through and pull it up over a slightly bent knee.
  2. Centre the patellar hole/ring exactly over the kneecap.
  3. Smooth out wrinkles so pressure is even all around.
  4. Wear during activity and walking; remove at rest unless advised otherwise.
  5. Loosen or remove if you feel numbness, tingling or the toes go cold.

Washing & Maintenance

  • Hand-wash in cold or lukewarm water with mild soap
  • Press out water gently — don't wring or twist hard
  • Air-dry flat in shade; reshape while damp
  • Wash every few days of use to keep elasticity & hygiene
  • No hot water, bleach or harsh detergent
  • No machine dryer or direct sunlight (kills the elastic)
  • Don't iron or store damp
  • Replace once it loosens and stops compressing

When to see a doctor

A knee cap eases everyday aches — it's not a substitute for diagnosis. See a doctor if you have severe pain, a knee that locks or gives way, can't bear weight, marked swelling, or pain that isn't improving.

Knee Cap FAQs

Which knee cap is best for knee pain?+

For everyday arthritis pain, warmth and mild swelling, a plain compression knee cap or open-patella type works well. If the kneecap feels unstable, a patellar-ring/silicone-pad cap helps centring. If the knee "gives way", you likely need a hinged brace — ask our pharmacist.

Knee cap vs knee brace — what's the difference?+

A knee cap is a slip-on compression sleeve for pain and mild support. A knee brace is firmer — with straps or hinges — for instability, ligament strain or post-surgery. Caps = comfort; braces = stability.

How do I choose the right size?+

Measure your thigh circumference ~15 cm above the knee and match the brand chart. It should be snug, not tight — no sliding, no pinching. We measure and fit in-store.

How do I wash a knee cap?+

Hand-wash in cold/lukewarm water with mild soap, don't wring or bleach, and air-dry in shade. Avoid hot water, dryers and direct sun, which ruin the elastic.
